The Shift of ages that we are living and creating, which regards every aspect of human condition, is the central subject of this web page, and it is here considered specifically as characterized by the end of economics, or economy, namely, the quantification of human existence, the quantitative measurement and regulation of relations by means of money. According to the I Ching, which is reference and the guide of these essays, the Shift can be represented by a trigram made up by tree broken, or yielding lines, which transform themselves into tree unbroken, or solid ones: ![]() representing the earth that transforms itself into heaven, quantity in quality, matter in spirit, yin in yang. |



Introduction
By definition, everyone desires that which we describe with the positive attributes of existence; everybody would be happy to live a full and serene life, without useless problems and suffering. Every thought, action and relation is always addressed to the satisfaction of needs and desires and to the realization of well being. Human nature is essentially positive. A high degree of harmony can be reached easily in a few centuries first of all by discarding the so many existing repressive, polluting, parasitic activities and the robber of natural resources, by applying the principles of permaculture and by means of the voluntary birth control until the desired dimension is reached. It must be society, as an organic unit aware of itself and its position in the world, to decide what to do in order to restore a stable harmony with nature and ensure the satisfaction of the material and spiritual common fundamental needs, the conditions that permit everyone to carry out the activities he likes and stay with the people he wants, which in turn is the condition for solidarity, social unity, of true well being and true wealth. This should be the declared function of the UNO and of the present national and local government, which know the problems and have means and the necessary facilities to evaluate the possible solutions. If this doesn’t happen, is not because people don’t want or because it is materially impossible, but because they don’t understand one another, so that it is impossible to reach an agreement on what has to be done and therefore to cooperate, and incomprehension, whatever the causes and the psychological implications, is based on giving wrong or different meaning to the same words and, in particular, in giving to the term economy the meaning opposite of what economy really is and entails. The erroneous and confuse conception of economy, in turn, is tied to an erroneous conception of well being and of the way to obtain it, namely, by a conception for which malaise is caused just by the activities aimed to the realization of well being. The aim of the following essays depends on the fact that as on one side the existence of economy imposes the ignorance of its own nature, on the other side, for the same reasons, the correct social knowledge of what economy is and implies doesn’t admit its existence. |
